This is a difficult issue that I haven`t resolved personally, but I highly recommend Roderick Long`s superb discussion, which starts from some 10 year old
answers Ruwart gave on the subject. She has no recent writings and has not indicated that it will play any role in her campaign, but recent controversy makes
it worth learning, and it is one of the areas that all societies have struggled to address.

When Dr. Ruwart issued her tax day message, one objection I saw expressed by some people was about financing national defense. Financing defense voluntarily
is not nearly as hard as people think as long as three steps are followed:

(1) Define the problem correctly

The Economy

As government grows, our freedom -- and our prosperity -- declines.

The size and power of government, the ability to create wealth, and ultimately our freedom to live the kind of lives we want to lead, are inextricably
linked to each other.

Let's start by talking about prosperity: The more a government spends, the less wealth is available for the creation of future wealth.

Conventional wisdom puts the so-called "necessary evil" of taxation on par with death-inevitable, unavoidable, the way the world works. Our society
